My first impression was that this is a cute little speaker, but it’s a little pricey. In any case, I decided to try it out just because I liked the clip feature as well as the included retractable audio cable. When the product arrived, I charged him up in about an hour and turned it on. WOW….WOW….and WOW. This little speaker put out WAY more bass than any other portable speaker I’ve ever had. I then took it on a 25 mile bike ride and the thing was STILL pumping out tunes. It took me 3 days of pretty regular use before I even needed to recharge it. I’m getting a bunch of these for gifts to everyone at the office.

first of all this product is rated at 600 watts power….BS there is no way this is 600 watts, the 21vdc power supply is rated at 3amp and to verify it says power consumption is 63 watts. how could a unit output 10 times it’s rated input? it can’t. this unit sounds okay when installed in a corner which it appears it is built specifically for due to it’s rear facing angles, it has decent bass and very clear mid- hi tones when at a low level. when you crank it up is when it gets depressing. just before it stops turning up (tops out) you start to think “this is gonna be awesome” then… oh, that’s it? major dissappointment! advertised at 600 watts i expected major sound! i guess you get what you pay for.

the remote and face controls have the worst and most anti-intuitive controls i have ever used. very confusing. if you want to use an iphone it gets worse… once the iphone locks you will have random select, play and pause features only until you manually unlock the phone with a finger swipe to the screen. this thing is not at all what i was expecting considering the specs given.

PROS:
0.00 is probably a fair price considering it’s looks and okay sound
very nice looking piece of furniture with a nice finish (piano black)
cool blue lcd glow that is not overpowering.
decent, useable sound that will fit a small room (think dorm room or small apartment)
space saving design for that small room.

CONS:
NOT 600 WATTS AS RATED!!
not very loud or booming as one would expect from a 600w PYLE unit
horrible UI both on the remote and face controls
not very stable and must be installed against a wall (preferrably a corner for best fit)
it will fall over if left free standing
piano finish is a fingerprint magnet
not made for iphone

so if you want tunes in the bathroom or quiet out of the way ambient sound this is for you!

The skin fits very well on my 3G iPod Touch (64Gb). I’m currently using the “black” skin, but may change out to the opaque white during the summer. This is example Belkin Dual Charger with USB and Swivel-Plug AC Charger for iPod comment from customer : I had been looking for a ***rotating*** dual USB wall adapter/charger for my cell phone, which is finicky about charging and sometimes needs a dual cable (i.e. one of those with two “normal” USB male plugs at one end and a single “mini” USB plug at the other) to get enough power to actually charge at any reasonable rate. I had a non-rotating dual USB charger from another manufacturer but it was bulky and sometimes hard to fit into the often awkwardly placed or crowded outlets in a hotel room or airline lounge.

This one is great – with the ability to rotate 90 degrees you can plug in pretty much everywhere. I haven’t yet found a socket it can’t fit into. And, when I’m not using the dual cord, it’s really nice to be able to use the two slots to charge any other TWO devices that work with USB charging.

I don’t even own an iPod, but bought this just for the rotating-dual-USB design and I am very happy with it for that. I gave the iPod cable to a friend, and she uses it quite happily with a normal single USB wall adapter as a backup travel charger for her iPod. I don’t know if she uses it to sync or not, but then “sync” wasn’t listed in the product description…just “charge”…

I use this to charge an iPod Touch, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4. It works great, exactly as avertised. Note that it only comes with one charging cord for Apple products, so to charge two at once you need to use one of your own cords that came with the product. This wasn’t big deal for me. I like that it doesn’t use a “dock” for charging, because it eliminates any hassles with choosing the right case to fit the dock.

I’m not sure about using it as a syncing cable, I’ve never tried that.

This is example Apple iPod Touch 8GB 16GB Accessory Kit – Black Silicone Skin Case + Premium Reusable LCD Screen Protector with Lint Cleaning Cloth By Ikross comment from customer : This cover for the Ipod touch gets the job done – albeit is not fancy or super high quality. Thin piece of rubber with stick on protectors for screen and back of Ipod Touch. I bought it through AccessoryOne, and while it is listed as having only a screen protector, it did also come with a matching “back” protector. Couple of things to note:
- It does have the “belt” notches on the back as pictured. Not necessarily attractive, and if you don’t use the back clear protector, these slit are exposed to getting scratched
- Not sure what that circle is in the upper left of the pictured item – this was not on the unit shipped to me and does not match up with any buttons or functions on the touch – which is good that it is not there, but thought I would point that out
- Silicon Cover fits fine with the screen of the touch – it is flexible enough to get it to fit within reason
- Clear transparent covers fit perfect! They are surprisingly very clear, I can’t even tell it is on the front screen. Tips for putting them on –
1) Do the back one first – it is practice for the front one which is more important.
2) Lay the Touch face down on a lint free cloth – polish the back while it is laying down holding just the sides – I would use the polish cloth provided by Apple, it is much nicer than the one provided with the unit, which BTW is not lint free, I got specs trying to use it.
3) There is a front clear piece on the clear cover – leave it on – peal the back piece off about a 1/4 of the length of the Touch, just enough to align the edge and get the stick started. Get it started and slowly rub with the lint free cloth working from this starting edge across the entire unit
4) You will see bubbles as you go – lift ever so slightly back up and smooth them out
5) All this is done holding just the edges of the protectors, never touch the sticky underside
6) Repeat all the above for the front LCD screen. Align from the button end first though

All good – keeps the touch from getting scratched

This is example XM XVSAP1V1 SkyDock with Built-In XM Tuner for iPhone and iPod Touch (Black) comment from customer : I will begin by saying I have purchased six different XM radios over the years. My advice is when your radio works, everything is great. Two of my previous radios needed replacement within the first month. The most important factor when buying a XM radio is the ease of return. My last radio I bought from XM directly and I had to return it for a new one because of a faulty power connection. After numerous calls to XM support I received a replacement. Guess what! They continued charging me monthly for two radios (the one I returned and the one they replaced it with). After a few more calls to India they removed the returned items. If you buy directly from XM, the returns of faulty equiptment is easy once you get them to understand what your saying. I find that Speaking VERY slow helps. This bring me to the XM Skydock. Although I purchase most items from Amazon, I knew better than with the XM Skydock. I puchased it from Walmart. Why? Because it is easy to exchange and get a new one when your radio fails. Plus it is much cheaper than direct from XM. Assume that it will fail. Mine lasted three weeks and then it started to dock and undock with a loose connection. So after five calls to XM in India this morning, I received five different fixes. One XM tech support lady incorrectly told me that I needed to keep the iphone docked atleast EIGHT hours every day to make sure it works properly. That would fix everything. I told her my commute was only less than an hour everyday and therefore I couldnot keep it in the dock for that long. She responded with telling me to dock it at home for eight hours. AHHHHH. I told it only plugs into the car outlet. Remember this was tech support, not the sales folks. I asked to speak to her manager and after ten minutes on hold, she hung up on me. So I called back going thru three layers of support each asking me my contact info, over and over again. This time the I asked a different tech person for a manager and she refused to get one and tried to help me directly. She confirmed it sounded like bad unit and said I should contact Audiovox for a replacement. I called the Audiovox number she provided and reached customer support and Audiovox told me I had to call another number. Surprise Surprise, that number was back to XM!!! Now thru three more layers of contact information interegations the tech support said they could not help me since I did not purchase it with them. I would have to take it back to Walmart (which I new I would be doing anyway). Odd that in the Skydock packaging it says to only return thru XM not the retailer. So I will return and reorder one at Walmart today. Off course I do not look forward to the charge to switch radios. And the constant monitoring of my account for additional charges.

XM would be awesome if they move their call center to the US. But when XM can hire 6 indian workers for cost of 1 us worker, they accept the lower quality service. However, XM please think about quality versus quantity. Maybe your share price would rise if you fix this customer service issue.

It’s velvety smooth, but “sticky” enough not to slide across a table. It’s very thin, making the iPod Touch barely thicker than it normally is. The clear screen protector is great, although it was about a 1/16″ too tall, so I had to slice off just a smidge on the top. No big deal. My husband is happy about the armband since he uses it out in the garage and things fall out of his pockets easily. Now the iPod Touch is safe and secure! Decent price…really nice product. It’s fairly easy to apply it on the iPod, and if you mess up you can just peel it right off and retry. I think it looks great. To me, it’s not to protect my iPod, but to make it look nice and stylish. I still use a clear iPod case so you can see it and it looks pretty damn cool. If you really want to protect your iPod, USE A CASE. Don’t rely on on decals to protect from major damages. The decal is only good for minor scratches.

Gotta love the protector screen that comes with it. I can’t even tell it’s on and it’s super easy to apply.

First. I have a 2005 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T GLS sedan with the standard double-din (double-height) factory stereo.

I did a lot of research and glad I did. It was invaluable… which is why I’m writing this review in return.

Overall, excellent! EASY install, GREAT sound quality. Smart design.

First of all, I recommend that anyone considering this product, download the owner’s manual from the USA SPEC website (for free in PDF format). That will give you an idea of the scope of the installation and the different “modes” available and how the factory stereo controls work and what the different “CD choices” represent. More on this later.

Next, in addition to buying this unit, you need the “keys” to pull the radio from the dash. You technically need four but can use two. They go into each corner of the radio (see the horizontal slots). You can buy the keys on ebay… or you can visit your local Best Buy, etc. and throw the tech a few bucks and pull the radio right there in the parking lot… like I did. If you only have two keys, pull the left side of the radio first (lots of youtube videos on how this works… I recommend you watch a couple before attempting). Once the left side of the radio is “out” (literally a couple of millimeters) then use the keys to pull the right side of the radio and voila!

I also recommend that you remove the glove compartment… MUCH EASIER THAN YOU THINK… Five torx screws. Open the glove compartment and you’ll see three torx screws along the inside of the top of the compartment. There are also two torx screws underneath the glove compartment down below. You may need to get down on your knees to see them.

WHEN YOU PULL THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT OUT BE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE INTERIOR LIGHT. It has a quick connect plug located on the left side of the compartment. Once the compartment is out, you have A LOT of space to work with. I read some reviews about people having problems finding a place for the unit… I had no problems… with the glove compartment out. Honestly, I don’t know how people were able to install the unit without taking the glove compartment out… you decide…

Also, a lot of reviews mention that there is a ground wire which you need to connect… TRUE… and not mentioned in the documentation. When you take the cables out of the box, suddenly there is this black wire hanging off one of the connectors… that’s the ground wire… Connecting the ground wire correctly IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. If it’s not installed properly… (good connection) you’ll get buzzing, static. etc… Very bad. Also, most reviews that I read said that the ground wire isn’t long enough. Also, TRUE. I had to splice an additional 2′ to the ground in order to get to a good ground connection… As for a good ground connection. This was daunting at first… You have to be careful what you connect the wire to. For example, DO NOT CONNECT TO ANYTHING UNDER THE DASHBOARD THAT IS EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE AIRBAG = BAD!!!!!! The airbag unit can be seen when the glove compartment is out. If you look up under the open space where the glove compartment was… that’s it. This is what I did… I ran a ground wire from where I spliced to the right side of the front passenger foot well. Went you look at the right side… down by where you’re feet would be positioned, there are a couple of screws… one will have a TON of brown wires connected to it… There’s another one right next to it… Simply unscrew the nut, attach the exposed portion of the ground wire (I wrapped the wire around the bolt post then reinstalled the nut). The nut was the same color as my car so it might be hard to find. Also, for good measure, it’s not a bad idea to take some sandpaper to the bolt and the nut… it’s painted which means you may not get a good ground… IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT WHAT IS A GOOD GROUND CONNECTION, CONSULT SOMEONE WHO DOES. THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT. You DON’T want to fry your electrical system… and guess what, factory warranties are generally void if you alter the wiring… not sure if this unit qualifies for the disqualification but if the warranty underwriter finds out you were installing this unit, chances are they won’t approve that ,000 claim. BE CAREFUL!

When the glove compartment is out, look to the left of where your feet would be and look directly behind/below the radio… There is a PERFECT spot for the unit…

When you unplug the stereo, ONLY UNPLUG THE CD CHANGER (BLUE) PLUG… If you pull the other one, you’ll lose power to the radio and will have to enter the security code to activate the unit again. (Call your VW dealer… they keep the four digit code on file).

Connecting the unit is as simple as it looks in the instructions. In addition to this unit I bought a fantastic iPod/iPhone mount to complete the professional look. Crutchfield has an excellent one ( but worth every penny). Simple to mount too… Pull the trip from the climate control switches, remove two torx screws on the right side of the climate control unit, insert the mount and reinstall the two torx bolts and the trim… DONE!

Also, during the installation, I added the RCA/3.5mm jack. You’ll have to change one of the DIP switches on the module, but it’s all explained well in the documentation. I ran the AUX jack (which is associated with CD #6 on the changer) into my glove compartment (made a small hole in the back to feed the wire through). Now I have another connection for a DVD player, sat radio, etc…

The sound is amazing. I’m using the “Hybrid” mode which allows me to control the iPod/iPhone from the device or the radio… I prefer to use the device… more intuitive and familiar. Supposedly, if you have steering wheel controls for the radio, they will work as well. I don’t have that option…

Also, not documented very well… but very nice feature: When you turn the car off, the radio turns off and the iPod paused at the exact spot… When you turn the car on… touch nothing and the song will continue from that position.

This is THE answer you’re looking for if you want excellent sound quality and a minimally invasive installation (no wire cutting, etc.)

Hi All,

I bought this Simplifi to do two things….one to clean up my desk and get rid of the various usb cables and memory card adapters laying around, and two so I could drop my iPhone 3g in to the dock and let it sync/charge at night when I get home. It does both things and it does them perfectly. What I love is the look of the device…its completely Appleized ( a new verb perhaps ). It reminds me of a miniature airport extreme/apple tv with the rubberized bottom. The device is weighted perfectly so that it will not tilt when you put a ipod, iphone, etc. on it.

The box includes:
The simplifi.
An AC Adapter @ 5v.
A Mini USB to USB Cable.
Adapters – 9-10-11-12-13-14 (iPod Classic 80, iPod Classic 160, iPod Nano 2nd Gen, iPhone (1st gen and 3g), iPod Nano 3rd gen, iPod Touch, iPod video 5th gen 30 and 80gb models, iPod shuffle (via usb ports on back).

The unit basically has a dock on the top and memory card readers in the front that read Compact Flash, SD, XD, and Memory Stick. The back has the connection from the device via mini usb to the computer (using included usb to mini usb cable) and 2 extra usb ports.

There are some issues that people are having, not necessarily for me, that are related to the iPhone/iPod’s not charging unless the USB is plugged into the computer. My thought here is that you are buying a device which does more then just charge an iPhone/iPod…it is a USB hub and memory card reader. More then likely you will always have it connected via USB to your computer and always have the adapter plugged in so that the USB portion is powered. I would not worry about such an issue…it is not a deal breaker.

It is a great device and every function works perfectly well…I have had zero issues reading SD and Compact Flash cards, I have had 100% success with my iPhone 3g and my 160gb iPod classic. I have tested it on a MACBOOK, a Mac Pro, and a IBM Thinkpad w500 running windows 7. So YES…it is a cross platform device.

Other then that Amazon shipped it quickly and saving on tax/shipping via 2nd day made it a easier purchase then it normally would have been.

PS. One other thing that I failed to mention that is a bit of a nuisance is that the included mini-usb to usb cable is a BIT short….it seems sized if you were placing this next to a laptop or attaching to the back of a apple display with usb. In no way is this cable long enough to reach a desktop pc/mac pro, etc… Luckily mini-usb to usb cables are not expensive and readily available. This is example NIKE + IPOD SPORT KIT-USA comment from customer : I don’t work out, or I should say I didn’t before getting this, the truth is I’ve been wanting this but refusing to buy it since it was announced. It works with the Touch 2nd gen + all the Nanos, but they can’t make one that works with my 1st Gen Touch ARRGH! With that said, I broke down and bought a Nano 5g and the Nike + Sports Kit on Easter Sunday. I see some reviews where the people are complaining about how it’s not very accurate. It’s very possible some of them didn’t put the sensor in right (I’ll bring this up in next paragraph) I paid for it, and honestly it does a pretty damn good job tracking my jogging. It’s not spot on, but for I don’t expect something that will be accurate to the hundredth of a mile. I don’t own the Nike + shoes (yet) I have some Reeboks and bought the Nathan pouch for the sensor. Supposively the sensor is even more accurate when used with a Nike + shoe, but I get within 3-4% which is good enough for me. I think it should get down to 2-3% once I go to a proper running track to calibrate it. While even 2% off might be too much for a lot of people to deal with. It’s perfectly fine with me. I bought this for 1 reason, because I wanted to start walking/jogging and I thought it sounded cool and looked like it could be fun.

It delivers on the cool and fun part. It’s VERY easy to set up, just make sure weather you use a Nike + shoe or a 3rd party pouch that you put the sensor in face up, that’s with the Nike & Apple logo facing up. Before you start using it for real you need to calibrate it, walking and running/ Now I haven’t worked out for ages (5′11 210′ish lbs) so I did the minimum distance for the running calibration, which is .25 miles. Not vert far but I thought I was going to stop breathing after I completed it lol. It’s the best idea to calibrate it on an actual running track. Like at a high school or college. I don’t have access to one, but when I do I’ll re-calibrate it for 1 mile – hopefully by then I’ll be able to actually run an entire mile After you calibrate you can start walking/running. When you’re done, hook up your iPod to your PC/MAC and it will ask if you want to auto sync the data with the [...] web site. You create a free account on there and can start tracking your usage. You can also track it directly from your Nano/Touch and there’s even some basic stats directly in iTunes – Distance, pace, calories burned, farthest workout and a few others. The Web site’s where this starts to really shine. You can set goals and it tracks your progression, you can also join or even create your own challenges. This is another point where you really start to see just how damn cool this product is. There are hundreds of challenges out there, and if you don’t see one you like, just start your own. There are hundreds of thousands of active users on the web site, so the challenges are definitely fun. And they have them for all experience levels. A beginning runner can join one where they’ll run 20 miles in a month, or an advanced runner can join one where they run 5 miles a day. Thru the use of the pedometer there are step goals, yesterday was my first real day using it. And today I hit my first step goal “climb a 100 story skyscraper” (4500 steps) Each time you sync it updates your progression, and I must say it was cool to watch the animation go up each time I synced today. I hit 100% and felt accomplishment. There are dozens of these goals. The non pedometer goals are for distance/speed/number of runs. You can customize each and add as many as you want. Each shows your progression whenever you sync and have new workout data on your Nano.

Last cool feature, I mean really cool is the Power Song. It sounded neat to me when I first heard about it, but kind of corny too. Last night I was running and was starting to hit my wall towards the last few minutes of the jog. So I pressed the power song button, which will play a song or a playlist that you specify in the Nike+ Setup. When Gonna Fly Now (Rocky’s Theme) came on, it really did give me a boost. I was abel to finish up the last .12 miles – don’t laugh I’m out of shape and 35. I officially love the Power Song feature. Since I have a few songs I consider power songs I made a smart playlist in iTunes that will randomly sync a different song to my power song playlist every day I sync. Gonna Fly Now is kind of a de-facto “pump your ass up” song to most people. But you can use whatever floats your boat.

I know this review’s long, but I wanted to break down everything about this, I know I’ve only been using it a few days, but I can already see how the goals/challenges on the web site are going to keep me motivated to push on. At it’s a great deal IMHO, even if you don’t have a Nano or Touch you can pick one up for pretty cheap. I don’t think I could bring myself to jog/run without this. It makes the workout interesting. Another cool feature, if you set a workout for lets say a mile you get a female (or male if you set it) voice telling you when you’re 1/2 way and when you have 200 yards left. On longer runs it gives you voice updates more often, but I haven’t done over a mile yet so I can’t comment on them. Also the voice congratulates you when you’ve set a new distance/time/speed record. Which is very motivating, hopefully the lady won’t yell and cuss me out if I have a crummy workout where I’m slow and pathetic lol.

I have a Touch & a Nano, and honestly as much as I wanted this on my Touch because of the big screen, the size/weight of the Nano is perfect and I’m actually no longer upset it doesn’t work on my 1st gen Touch. Nike has really came up with a winner here, and I believe the ultra large community on the web site pushes it over the top. It also doesn’t hurt that Nike seemed to put a lot of thought and time into the web site and hopefully will continue to update/add to it. I’m really curious to see where Nike+ is in another year. Hopefully I’ll still be using it then.

This is example Inspiretech Apple iPod Touch 2nd gen slim fit Protect Case (Pearl white) comment from customer : This review is coming to you after half a year ownership with this case. So here is my insight of the long term use with this case.

PROS
1. The price is cheap and the make of the case is very good.
2. The feel of the case just feels really smooth and its fun to feel in my opinion.
3. It snaps on your itouch and off very easily.
4. The logo on the back, all of it can be rubbed off with your fingers if you don’t want them.
5. I’ve had several of my friends ask me if it was an iPhone I was using because of the case.
6. It’s lasted 6 months and definitely will last longer.

Cons
1. The case only will protect the back of your itouch because it only snaps on to half of your itouch. I assume you can recognize this from the pictures. ( I don’t really consider this a con but just pointing this out to people who think this case will protect their screen as well, which it doesn’t)
2. The protection of this case is very subjective to me at least. I’ve dropped my itouch about 10 times from a height of at least 3 to 4 feet. More than half those incidents resulted in my case popping off the itouch after it hit the ground. Now the tricky part of judging the protection value is that my Itouch has not sustained any damage to it on the screen nor body of it with this case on it despite the case coming off the itouch upon impact. Its just unnerving that the case pops off.
3. The case will get scratched up pretty badly over time but the color of the case itself will not decolorize.
4. The bottom right hand side of the case was a small piece of the case that I snapped off myself because it was pointless in being there because it provided little to no protection. If you buy this case you’ll know what I mean.

In conclusion, this case gets 4 stars because you usually buy a case for protection a value as top priority and looks a close second. I’m not sure how much protection this case offers but it has done me justice over the past 6 months of ownership. I would recommend this product to you.

It’s velvety smooth, but “sticky” enough not to slide across a table. It’s very thin, making the iPod Touch barely thicker than it normally is. The clear screen protector is great, although it was about a 1/16″ too tall, so I had to slice off just a smidge on the top. No big deal. My husband is happy about the armband since he uses it out in the garage and things fall out of his pockets easily. Now the iPod Touch is safe and secure! Decent price…really nice product. I would buy it again.

Battery life is excellent, I rarely need to change the batteries. I use rechargeable batteries and they work fine. Sound quality isn’t “full” but adequate for their size. Very compact and due to the fact that they are an older model I have to give them credit for building a reliable device. I’m looking to upgrade for more bass now that technology has advanced with these types of speakers, but these will always be around as my backup.
